Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa and katao you all
I summon you all here on this beautiful Friday morning, for another week has come and gone, and what a fucking rollercoaster it has been. It is a slightly cloudy morning in Auckland, but none of that matters, for thank God it is Friday. For Friday is the one day of the week where we can finally sit back and say, we made it. Monday is gone, Tuesday is gone, Wednesday is gone, Thursday is gone, and now we stand here wit our comrades, on Friday, Together.
But unfortunately, I have some bad news.
I will get to that later.
This week was probably one of the more interesting weeks I’ve had recently. On Wednesday I had a blood test, and whether it was related or not, Wednesday night into Thursday morning was cooked. From around 1am to 8am I kept waking up feeling sick, cold sweats, hot sweats, sheets completely soaked, waking up, feeling like shit, going back to sleep and doing it all over again. Probably the worst I’ve felt all year.
But somehow Thursday morning came around and I still showed up to work. I did absolutely nothing for about two hours, then my boss gave me a motivational speech and something clicked, for thank god for friday and thank god for John. I proceeded to have my best working day in the past three months.
For That it is sometimes we the humans convince ourselves that we are too tired, too sick or simply unable to do something before we have even tried.
For thank God for motivation, but more importantly, thank God for discipline.
And thank God it’s Friday
This week I want to dedicate the TGIF to my barber Zyon, who I’ve consistently gone to for the past 2–3 years. The man has seen every stage of my hair, the good, the bad and the cooked, but TGIF for routines, and TGIF to the small things in life, like a haircut.
Zyon is switching to a career in the police force.
For thank God for Zyon, a man of many talents. From lining people up with clippers to potentially lining people up for questioning. From fades to fines. From “how much off the top?” to “do you know how fast you were going?”
This Saturday I am doing a BYO, with the official lineup being Moe, Lens, JT, Isaac, Si, Lucas (jew) Theo and Conrad
THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR THIS WEEK
- My whanau,
- my friends,
- our health,
- our hard work,
- having a job,
- Zyon,
- FRIDAY.
Now for the bad news. Pelase hold on to your socks, because I might blow them away.
Now if you allow me to go back to the start of the blog, I said “I have some bad news.”
But there isn’t any.
Recently I watched Ace in the Hole, one of Billy Wilder’s films, and it got me thinking about the quote
“that bad news sells best, because good news is no news”
so it had me thinking If I started this TGIF saying “I have some good news”, would you have read every word? Probably not. But by saying “I have some bad news”, suddenly you wanted to know what happened.
And that was the experiment.
So congratulations, you’ve been fucking baited. FOR TGIF For Billy wilder and his incredible movies.
There is no bad news.
The only news I have is that it is Friday, another week has finished, Saturday is tomorrow, Sunday is coming, and Monday is not today.
For Tommorow is a present, Yesterday was a mystery and tommorow is history thats why we call it a gift.
For thank God it is Friday.
TGIF to you ALL.
TGIF to the people who need it the most.
TGIF to everyone who worked hard this week.
TGIF to everyone who didn’t.
TGIF to Zyon.
TGIF to the BYO.
TGIF to my whanau.
TGIF to my friends.
TGIF to Friday.
God bless you.
And God bless the people who need this Friday the most.
May next week be better than this one.
For thank God it’s Friday.
